Why? April 30 is QUEEN’S DAY in the Netherlands. And this year it was a very special day. Queen Beatrix announced in January that she would abdicate the throne in favor of her son Prince Willem Alexander. So, since yesterday around 10.10 am The Netherlands has a king!!!

At Matoke Inn I did put some balloons (that were kind of orange colored) up and I asked one of the staff members, Barbara, to make orange ‘tompouces’. She did a wonderful job and they were delicious. And at suppertime we had porkchops and for desert lemon meringue pie.
